Floor push-up

A bodyweight horizontal press performed from a plank position. Lower the body as one unit, then push the floor away to return to the plank.

Equipment and setup

Required: Floor space.

  • Place the hands slightly wider than shoulder width.
  • Create a straight line from head to heels.

How to perform the movement

  1. Bend the elbows and lower the chest.
  2. Pause near the floor.
  3. Push back to the start.

Technique cues

  • Brace the abdomen.
  • Keep the elbows angled slightly back.
